Electric patient lift uses battery powered pumps to operate the lift, and also to operate the base of the lifts, in order to be able to move closer to a bed or chair the base of patient lift will need to be opened up or closed, while a semi electric patient lift uses electric power to do the actual lifting of the patient, the operation of the base is manual.
